Who is SRAP?

SRAP is a collective of community members in the Stoughton area who are helping refugees by giving them the chance for a safe, new start to life. We all benefit as we learn about our new residents, celebrate their culture, and try to understand what they have been through.

Our Mission

Assist refugees to resettle in South Central Wisconsin and promote dignity, stability, economic opportunity, and independence in their new communities.

The refugees have come from different countries, but they each had to flee their homelands or face violence, hunger, and death. They need assistance with housing, household items, transportation, emotional support and acclimating to our community (schools, employment, services, shopping, etc.).

Refugees that resettle in Stoughton and Oregon will enjoy safe, meaningful, independent lives in a welcoming community that celebrates their culture and respects their human rights.

Once the refugees are living in Stoughton or Oregon, our work will just be starting. We will be a richer and more tolerant community if we expose them to the same opportunities that we have: a safe neighborhood where kids can play, an excellent education for children and adults, good jobs that give them the independence to thrive, and people that welcome them with kindness. Together, we can help our new neighbors by educating community members about their lives and culture.

Our Vision

How You Can Make a Difference…

This is a movement of many. Whether you’re most comfortable contributing time, money, or energy, we need you on our team.

Individuals

Join our Facebook Group and encourage others to do so. Donate to our housing fund through GoFundMe. Volunteer your time. Donate new or lightly used household items (we will post the list of needed items on Facebook).

Community Organizations

Raise awareness in your community about refugees. Organize a fundraiser or gather monetary and in-kind donations. Create a committee to coach and assist families after resettlement.

Church Groups

Educate ministry and community, including children about the needs of refugees. Establish a partnership with SRAP or other groups to support our new residents. Encourage your congregation to volunteer and donate.
